Blackburn paper firm hits profit growth list
11:15am Wednesday 18th April 2012 in Business
A PAPER converter in Blackburn has been listed in the top 100 independent companies in the Sunday Times PWC Profit Track 2012.
Accrol Papers, which produces more than 1.25million toilet rolls and 250,000 kitchen towels each day, was only one of a handful of companies to be listed in consecutive years and one of only two companies listed from Lancashire.
Already employing more than 200 people, the firm was recently awarded a £1.4million grant from the Regional Growth Fund to increase the size and maximise the efficiency of its production facilities.
Managing director Majid Hussain said: “We are delighted to be listed in the PwC Profit Track 100 which we believe is partly down to our considerable investment in state-of-art machinery which has helped us become more efficient and meet demands of existing and new customers.
“We are continuing to expand rapidly and are drawing up plans for an additional investment of £30million over the next few years and we hope to be able to announce more details shortly.”
Last month Business Minister Baroness Wilcox opened the firm’s new £6million warehouse.
