Haslingden firm hopes to take on 12 extra workers

AN extra 12 jobs have been promised at one of Haslingden’s largest private employers if plans for an extension are approved.

Proposals for a 42.6 metre-long addition to Solomon Commercials, on the Knowsley Road industrial estate, have been submitted to Rossendale Council.

Bosses at the firm, which also has sites in Kingsway, Haslingden, and on Carr industrial estate, say that the development will enable them to boost their production capacity.

Planning agent Jason Day said the planned extension would blend in with existing units on the estate, just off the A56.

The company, which makes temperature-controlled delivery vehicles and has branched out into aerodynamics, currently employs around 270 people there.

Last January the firm celebrated clinching a major order with catering giants Fairfax Meadow for three-and-a-half tonne vans.
