Rolls-Royce secured deals worth £1.1billion during last week’s Farnborough Air Show, it has revealed.
The aerospace giant, which employs 1,000 in East Lancashire, announced a slew of big-money contracts to supply its engines to airlines.
The deals are a boost to the region as fan blades for many Rolls-Royce products are manufactured at its base in Barnoldswick.
Among the contract wins were agreements to supply V2500 engines to Yemenia, China Southern and Vietnam Airlines, and Trent 700 engines to Russian airline Aeroflot.
Meanwhile, two of the star attractions at Farnborough, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A400M, were powered by Rolls-Royce engines.
