A BISTRO is set to remain closed until September as it awaits repairs following a kitchen fire.

Lily Mae’s in King Street, Accrington has been closed since February after a fire caused ‘extensive smoke damage’ throughout the restaurant.

Work was slow to take place following the fire due to administration issues, with the clean up starting in May.

Restaurant bosses said they faced further delays due to issues with insurance.

Staff have now provided an update and said they hope work will start soon to reopen the restaurant later this year.

A spokesman for the restaurant said: “As far as we know we won’t be reopening until the middle of September.

“We are still closed at the moment due to the small kitchen fire because of mainly smoke damage.

“Insurance has been slow but we are hoping to get the authorisation next week to start repairs.

“We are currently working to sort the cleaning and redecorating.

“We are hoping that once work has been started around six weeks for work to be completed.

“Sorry for the inconvenience caused.”
