IT SAYS a lot when a student wants to return to his former college to work
But that is exactly what Lance Plachciak did when he saw an advert for a vocational courses brand manager at Blackburn College.
Now, the 26-year-old has no doubts that he made the right choice – nor do his colleagues, one of whom nominated him for the Young Employee category at the Hive Business Awards.
Lance said: “I love my job. The college provided me with so many opportunities as a student and to play a part in inspiring the next generation of young professionals is a real motivator."
Lance studied media at the college before taking a degree in media and communications in London, graduating in 2012 and moving back to his home town.
He initially took a job with an e-commerce company before joining Blackburn College in his new role last August.
He said: “Each and every day at the college is a new learning experience. I’ve attended a range of external marketing workshops and conferences, giving me a broad insight into the industry as a whole.
“The college is also providing me with marketing master classes, with the opportunity to study a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification in the future.”
As for his plans, Lance said he was committed to staying at the college long term.
He said: “I’m honoured to be shortlisted and have my work recognised. Win or lose, I already feel like a winner for making it this far.”
