A SIGN firm has doubled in size after winning new contracts, including providing 2,150 for the Sainsbury’s 2015 School Games.

HD Signs, a specialist in signage and graphics, secured the major contract to supply all the signs and banners for the competition, which were held in Manchester last week.

The contract, which is the latest in a string of new work for the firm based in Holme Bank, Rawtenstall, has enabled HD Signs to take on five new staff.

The company, which also undertook work for the London 2012 Olympics and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, produced three-and-a-half miles of mesh and PVC banners for the School Games.

The firm also produced 2,150 signs and banners for the event, which were put in place at the venues for the competition including The National Cycling Centre, Bolton Arena, Manchester Aquatics Centre, Regional Athletics Centre, Phones 4 U Arena, The Armitage, Indoor Tennis Centre, The Sugden Centre and Regional Squash Centre.

Jan Korab, the firm’s managing director, said: “Winning the highly competitive tender for this year’s Sainsbury’s 2015 School Games was testament to our approach for this project and shows how far we have come as a company.

“The contract, along with others that we have secured in recent months, has allowed us to double our workforce.

“As part of this hugely prestigious contract we became part of an event-management team, where we have been involved in months of planning, preparation, production and installation.

“For this project we were given the responsibility for not only the creation of all artwork but the large-scale production of the banners and all signage.

“In addition we installed all our own work and were tasked with the de-rigging of all venues at the conclusion of the School Games. We are proud to have won this contract and of our ability to help manage a prestigious event of this size and profile.”
