A LANCASHIRE firm helping to build Manchester City's new training facilities has been praised for its health and safety regimes.

Keith Walton Brickwork Limited, on Southfield House/Southfield Street in from Nelson, won BAM Construction’s gold medal.

BAM, one of the UK’s largest major contractors, is working on the new National Graphene Institute, Manchester City’s Football Academy, and the Co-Operative Group HQ.

Regional director Steve Byrne said: “BAM are behind some of the UK’s most impressive and cutting edge buildings. How we work with our partners is extremely important to delivering the quality that our clients have come to expect. That’s why we like to recognise exceptional performance, and there can be no more important aspect to construction than its safety.

“The gold award for Keith Walton Brickwork not only reflects their attitude and outlook, but also, it reflects a responsible approach to the environment.”

The Nelson firm has been involved with several BAM projects including the delivery of a new Ambulance and Fire Services Resource centre in Wrexham currently under construction and the stunning £100 million football academy in Manchester.

Harry Clayton, managing director of Keith Walton Brickwork, said: “We are thrilled that our continuing efforts to excel in all aspects of health, safety and environmental performance have been recognised by such a valued client.

"These standards could of course not be achieved without the full cooperation of our experienced and pro-active site managers and workforce.”
