AN EAST Lancashire business has announced that it has produced it’s millionth insulated glass unit.

Padiham Glass, which is has its head office manufacturing facility and retail trade counter based at Shuttleworth Mead Business Park, made the announcement has manufactured its millionth insulating glass unit.

The milestone comes less than a month into the company’s celebration of its 35th year in business.

Anthony Clarkson, managing director at Padiham Glass, said that reaching the million mark was a bit of a surprise at first.

He said: “It was only by chance we found out about the million units after our analyst had been reviewing some previous annual reports.

“Luckily, we found out that we were approaching the million, so we were ready and waiting when it actually came through our automated production line to see who the lucky customer would be.

“It turned out to be Darwen Windows, who are probably one of our longest-standing customers, so it seemed appropriate that they were part of the occasion.”

Bill Ainsworth, managing director of Darwen Windows, said that they were delighted to be involved in helping Padiham Glass reach the milestone.

He said: “We’ve always had a very good relationship with the team at Padiham Glass.

“We get high-quality products with competitive pricing and we have always found the service to be excellent.

“I’m sure the relationship between our businesses will continue well into the next million.”

Padiham Glass was established in 1980 and employs around 100 members of staff.

The business was originally set up in a former mill in Ribble Street.

The company, which delivers nationwide, has provided glass for various projects across the North West such as Burnley College, Preston North End Football Club and Heywood Sports Village.
