AN Accrington charity has recruited one of Lord Alan Sugar’s former apprentices to help it search for local talent.

Young Persons’ Neighb-ourhood Operational Team (YNOT) Hyndburn has enlisted the support of Alex Wotherspoon, who appeared on popular BBC show, The Apprentice, alongside the technology tycoon.

Alex, who made it to the final before being ‘fired’ by Lord Sugar in 2008, will help the charity recruit a young person, aged 16 to 24, for an apprenticeship in business administration.

He said: “It’s great to be working within the local community with highly- motivated young individuals with a passion to learn, and a drive for success.

“I’m very much looking forward to getting involved.”

Training will be provided through North Lancashire Training Group throughout the two-year, full-time placement within the charity.

And, by the end of it, the successful candidate will earn an NVQ Level Two in business administration.

Chief officer for YNOT Hyndburn, Sharon Burch, said: “As a charity that supports young people, we are always looking for ways to try and create opportunities for them, and this apprenticeship seemed like the perfect option.

“The successful candidate will gain valuable work experience, receive on-the-job training and, at the end of it, come out with a qualification.

“As we are only a small charity and in our infancy, the apprentice position will also help us to manage our workload, and to develop the charity fur-ther, with young people at the forefront of it all.

“We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic, dynamic, and with a real desire to make a difference to young people, and the services available to them in the area.”
