Primary pupils get taste of life at Stacksteads secondary school

HUNDREDS of primary school children took over Fearns Community Sports College for a day last week.

The visiting pupils enjoyed taster lessons to see what life in high school is like.

Carmel Woods, achievement leader for Key Stage Three students at the Stacksteads school, said the day was very beneficial for all concerned.

She said: “We had 230 Year Six pupils from 14 different primary schools come into Fearns and they had four lessons to give them a taste of high school life.

“They were escorted by our Year 11 prefects who volunteered to come into school and help and they did a fantastic job.”

Among the taster sessions were art classes and cookery in the food technology department.
