Bailiff injured in fracas at Waterfoot property

A bailiff was left with a sprained wrist after trouble at a house in Rossendale, a court heard.

Kenneth Gamble ended up injured after he was not allowed entry to the property in Waterfoot.

He had gone to the house over a fine, the occupant shouted for Phillip Collinge, who was there and Mr Gamble was thrown out. The victim was said to have been gripping the door handle and hurt his wrist when the door was being pushed from inside and they wouldn't let him back in, Burnley magistrates were told.

Collinge, who spat at a woman on a separate occasion, was found to have cannabis on the same date.

The defendant, 29, of Burnley Road, Colne, admitted assault and possessing cannabis on September 2 and assault by beating on September 17. He was given a 12-month community order and 100 hours’ unpaid work.
