Rawtenstall hairdresser plans move to former pub
7:00pm Saturday 15th September 2012 in News
AN award-winning hair salon is giving a former Rawtenstall town centre pub a makeover.
Bosses at Tufties Hair and Beauty, based in Ormerod Street, has revealed plans to re-locate into the Rams Head pub in Newchurch Road.
And the salon had another reason to celebrate this week when it was judged to be head and shoulders above the rest at the Great Lengths industry awards in London.
Owner and director Victoria Jones started the salon from scratch 13 years ago. It now employs 14 staff and she can’t wait to get started in the new premises.
The 44-year-old entrepreneur said: “Originally we were just a small shop then we expanded next door. This is the next step of that expansion and hopefully on to bigger and better things for the business.
“The pub is such a lovely old building, I think it dates back to the 1700s, so we’ll be trying to maintain that feel. We dont want the place to lose character.”
Victoria refused to give away any secrets regarding what else she had in store for the unconventional salon setting.
After picking up the Salon of the Year and Marketing of the Year titles at the Mayfair Hotel bash, Victoria said it was testament to her crew’s teamwork.
She said: “I'm so excited that we've won these two top awards. You just don't think that a small salon in Rawtenstall could beat some major London salons and all the rest of the national competition.
“But the salon has specialised in the application of hair extensions for more than 11 years now and we all work really hard to make sure we provide the best possible service for our customers. It’s great that the judges recognised both our (hairdressing) skills and customer service and the awards more than vindicate our existing Gold Salon status.”
