TWO 15-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a fire in a derelict school.
Fire crews were called to the former Habergham High School,in Kiddrow Lane, shortly before 7pm on Friday.
A pair of curtains were set alight underneath the stage in the building’s assembly hall.
Fire crews managed to contain the fire quickly and prevent it from spreading.
However, the building was heavily smoked logged.
Police were also called to the scene and arrested the teenagers as they left the building.
The school, which once formed part of Burnley Grammar School closed permanently in 2006 after Habergham High merged with Ivy Bank to form Hameldon Community College.
A Police spokesman said: “Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested on suspision of burglary other than in a dwelling.
“An investigation is currently ongoing into the orgin of the fire..
“The teenagers have been released on police bail.”
