Burnley work skills college head is announced

THE new boss of an East Lancashire university technology college has been announced.

Martin Callagher, 52, has been appointed managing director of Burnley’s £10.3million Visions Learning Trust university technology college which offers work-based learning for 14 to 19-year-olds.

Mr Callagher leaves his headship in Fulwood, to take up the post. He said: “The college will provide a fantastic opportunity for young people in Burnley and the surrounding areas to access outstanding education linked directly to develop the skills that local employers want.”

Steve Gray, chief executive at Training 2000, lead college sponsors, said: “I am really pleased we have been able to appoint someone of Martin’s experience and calibre.”
