A WOMAN has died after her car crashed into a wall in Rawtenstall.
The woman in her mid-20’s was driving down Lord Street towards Bury Road when she lost control and veered down an embankment, police said.
Her car then hit the wall, which is close to the New Hall Hey Business Park.
Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after 5.10pm today.
The driver, who has not yet be named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger, a 21-year-old woman, was also cut out of the car by fire fighters and taken to Fairfield General Hospital.
Her condition tonight was described as ‘serious’.
Officers closed off the road while investigations into the cause of the crash were launched.
