THE future of a bridge-building initiative in Burnley has been secured for the next three years with a £76,200 grant.
Interfaith and equality work carried out by The Bridge Project, based at St Andrew’s Church Hall, in Duke Bar, will benefit from the money from the Henry Smith Foundation.
Part of the Building Bridges Burnley scheme, the project offers an after-school club, arts and crafts and drama sessions, and summer holiday activities, all aimed at encouraging different cultures to develop together.
The funding will support the salary for a youth and children’s worker over the next three years.
A Building Bridges spokesman said: “This is a tremendous boost in these difficult financial times.
"The money will enable activities to be provided for the children and the young people’s work to continue.”
