A FATHER-TO-BE stole almost £5,000 from his bosses in a betting scam.
Burnley magistrates heard how Damian Bradley, 23, helped himself to the cash over about five weeks when he was depressed and in debt.
Bradley, then working at Betfred, in Colne, placed low stake bets and, if the horse was successful, amended the slip to a higher value to increase the payout.
Bradley, of Colne Road, Brierfield, admitted four counts of fraud by false representation and asked for 38 offences to be considered.
He was sentenced to 42 days in jail, suspended for a year, and 130 hours unpaid work, and must pay £50 costs. He had no previous convictions.
John Rusius, defending, said Bradley was deeply ashamed and regretted what he had done.
