A SPOOKY horror attraction is set to return today (Friday) to a petting farm ahead of Halloween.

Now in its seventh year, The ‘Farm of Terror’ attraction, is a live experience horror event which takes place at Huttock Top Farm, in Bacup.

Voted one of the UK’s top terror attraction, it sees brave souls navigate their way through a maze of corridors and alleyways in the farm’s stables which include scary clowns and walls that move.

Organiser Terry Bork, who runs the event from his farm with his family, said it aims to raise money to give animals on the farm shelter and food over the winter months when it closes.

He said this year’s event is expected to attract up to 2000 people, around 400 on each of the five nights it is being held.

He said: “The farm closes during the winter months, so the event aims to raise money to give animals on the farm shelter and food.

“It has always proved a popular event with great reviews and we work closely with local college students who visit the farm.”

However, the event has attracted one objection from Lorraine Winnard, of Bankside Lane, who has raised concerns about ‘excessive noise, excessive traffic and litter.’

She said: “Every year we object to this application for the same reasons, excessive noise, excessive traffic using a one-way in/one-way out road and litter.

“This is a residential area, there are many other similar attractions in Lancashire which are in remote areas and do not inconvenience local residents.

But Mr Bork said a shuttle bus services operates at the event, taking people back and to from a section of Morrisons car park in Lee Street.

He said: “We have two mini buses and one that’s on stand-by and we’ve found that has worked well in reducing the level of traffic on the road.

“We’ve found that the traffic is just like it would be on a normal evening as there are no cars allowed to park in the event, and all visitors have to park at Morrisons.

“We have a maximum of 400 people that can attend the event each night, so this isn’t a problem as numbers won’t increase attending the event.

"While our opening times is limited to 9pm to restrict noise."

The event takes place tonight (October 20) and October 21 and then October 27 and October 28 and on October 31, between 7.30pm and 9pm each night.
