THE Pendle countryside will echo to the sound of live rock music as the Rising Sun at Blacko stages a charity ‘Summer Fun’ day.

Licensees Peter and Nicola Loftus have organised the day to say a big thank you for the warm welcome they have received since taking over the Gisburn Road pub, near Nelson, earlier this year.

A line up of bands – courtesy of Brian ‘Hobgoblin’ Flockhart - will perform outside the pub.

The free entry event with raffles includes a DJ, bar and food van to raise funds for the parish council and Pendleside Hospice.

Mr Loftus said: "We noticed that the parish council works hard to keep the village looking good, so the day will raise funds for the village and the hospice.”

The event takes place on Saturday August 19 from 1-8pm.
