BURNLEY’S budding writers have been invited to show off their skills in a creative competition.
Youngsters aged between four and 14 have been asked to produce a 500-word story set in the year 3017.
Organised by Explore Learning, which has a centre in Kingsway, Burnley, the first prize is a trip to Disneyland Paris and £500 worth of books for the winner’s school.
BBC presenter Steve Backshall has been chosen as the competition’s judge.
Mr Backshall said: “Writing was my first love and I think it’s so important for children to let their imaginations run wild and have a go at entering writing competitions like this.
“You’re often told to write about what you know broaden your experience, learn as much as you can about the wild world in order to better protect it. I can’t wait to read the stories.”
The deadline is Friday, May 5, and entries can be submitted at explorelearning.co.uk/youngwriters.
