THREE people were injured after a gas explosion in Padiham caused when ammonia from a fridge ignited.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to Hambledon Street, Padiham at around 1pm today.
A fire service spokesman said a fire engine from Padiham attended a report of a gas explosion at a residential property.
He added: "They found that it was a small ammonia explosion which had injured three people.
"Fire crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan and ambulances took two of the three casualties to hospital."
It is believed the explosion occurred as attempts were being made to dismantle the refrigerator outside the house.
It is believed that the two people taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital sustained minor injuries, including one who was treated for gas inhalation.
