A CAR crashed through the window of a charity shop in Rawtenstall.

The incident happened at the Rossendale Hospice Charity Shop in Bank Street at around 11.30pm last night.

Two fire engines from Rawtenstall Station attended and made the scene safe.

A spokesman for the service said the driver of the silver Audi A3 Sport had left the handbrake off but police are investigating the incident.

Insp Andy Carter said: "This is being classed a as a damage only road traffic collision. There's no crime linked to it. It's lucky that nobody was hurt."

Nobody was inside the shop at the time. Nobody was injured.

The shop is closed today.
