YOUNGSTERS at a nursery in Barnoldswick created a medal for midfielder Joey Barton, after he initially missed out on his Championship title prize.

Children at Safehands Nursery crafted the handmade medal to mark Burnley FC promotion to the Premier League after a mix up over the number of player medals needed for the squad at Monday’s homecoming parade.

"Quite a few of the children are Burnley fans.

"They were excited about getting the medal sorted for him and about getting involved.”

The medal has already been noticed by Burnley FC, with the club sharing a picture of the medal on their official Twitter account, which Barton himself retweeted.
