Police are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set alight on a residential driveway in Burnley in the early hours of yesterday.

Detectives say the incident occurred between 2am and 3am on Reedfield.

They believe an offender approached the Ford Fiesta which was parked on a driveway and poured an accelerant over it before setting it on fire.

The offender then made off from the scene.

Detective Inspector Julie Cross, of Lancashire Police’s CID, said: “This was a deliberate attack which, because of its proximity to several houses, could have had far worse consequences.
