The victim immediately fled from his own home in shock and contacted police after ringing his mother, the court heard.

Rachel White, prosecuting, said an officer was sent to Mr Wood’s home in Hallam Road, Nelson, and saw Sturdy leaving.

He asked the woman if she knew anyone at the address and she indicated she didn’t. It was apparent she had been drinking.

An investigation found that she had probably used a nearby wheelie-bin to climb through Mr Wood’s kitchen window. An amplifier worth £10 and three ornamental Samurai swords had been taken, valued at around £30.

Sturdy, 30, of Chatham Street, admitted burglary and to another charge of stealing cash, a mobile phone worth £400 and bank cards from James Lawson in St James Street, Burnley, on March 9, in an incident witnessed by town centre CCTV operators when she was seen rummaging through his pockets while he was asleep on a bench.
