ROSSENDALE MP Jake Berry has been thanked by staff at charity Guide Dogs for his support throughout the year.
Mr Berry met with staff, volunteers and puppies from the charity to receive a custom-made Christmas cracker, thanking him for his support this year.
The charity set up a makeshift grotto in Parliament to hand out messages of thanks to MPs that supported it in 2014.
The custom cracker included messages from people from across Rossendale on Guide Dogs’ campaign for a national law on pavement parking.
Mr Berry has previously met with his local Guide Dogs team to talk about their campaigns to make public transport more accessible for people with sight loss.
He said: “It was a pleasure to meet the guide dog pups in training and receive my thank you cracker from nine-month old guide dog puppy Bobbi.
“I’ve been a big supporter of the charity for some time and I’m very happy to be supporting their campaign on pavement parking.”
“Pavement parking is a real problem across Rossendale, as well as for people with sight loss, it is a potentially dangerous obstacle for wheelchair and mobility scooter users as well as people with pushchairs.”
Guide Dogs campaigns manager James White said: “We are very grateful for all of the support that Members of Parliament give to Guide Dogs.
“As well as saying thank you to Jake for his help this year, we used this opportunity to raise awareness about the dangers of parking on pavements and to call for a change in the law.”
