THE murder trial for the alleged killers of a former Rossendale man has been delayed in Cornwall until next April.

Kevin Cooper was charged alone initially over the murder of David Alderson, a driving instructor originally from Rawtenstall.

But he is now in the dock with Trewen Kevern, who was charged with murdering the 72-year-old, whose body was discovered at a copper mine in the south-west county on January 18.

Cooper, 33, from Carharrack, and Kevern, 21, of Falmouth, both Cornwall, were listed together to appear before Judge Graham Cottle for a preliminary hearing at Truro Crown Court.

Cooper was remanded in custody in his absence and Kevern was bailed, ahead of a trial date on April 28. Both will appear again for a plea and directions hearing before then, at either Exeter, Plymouth or Truro crown courts.
