A LAST-ditch appeal has been issued to discover names for a Burnley war memorial book ahead of a poignant concert which is set to take place this weekend.

The Acapella Singers are due to deliver a World War One memorial concert at St Mary's CE Church, in Todmorden Road, this Sunday (Nov16), from 2pm.

Before then churchgoers want to know if any extra names for the parish can be added to their remembrance volume, a project which has been running at St Mary's for the past year.

The book will be unveiled, alongside a new memorial, as part of the commemorations, and 200 names have been sourced so far by the church's researchers.

Martin Sales, of the Acapella Singers, said: "The singers will dedicate their open item of Faure's Requiem to those who perished. The second half of the concert will be made up of many items suitable for the occasion including well known music from the period."

The concert will be followed by a collection at the end in aid of the Royal British Legion.

People wishing to add to the St Mary's memorial project can call Barbara McNamara on 01282 424967.
