A 27-year-old woman who ‘glassed’ a man in the face, cutting his eye, could be facing a jail term.

Ashleigh Bayliff, of Paulhan Street, Burnley, admitted wounding Phillip Campbell, in a pub in the town on July 5.

She denied the more serious allegation of wounding him with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Burnley Crown Court heard how the victim’s version of events was quite different to the defendant’s and she had made allegations about him shouting and swearing.

The violence was caught on CCTV.

Bayliff’s barrister, Hugh McKee, told the hearing: “I think she will maintain this version of events in relation to how the matter started.”

The defendant was bailed until November 28, for a pre-sentence report.

Bayliff must not contact the victim and must not enter the Bridge Beer House, on Bank Parade, where the incident took place.
