A COMMUNITY centre that provides support workers for families and schools is celebrating its 10th anniversary after going from strength to strength.

The Maden Centre in Bacup is inviting everyone to join them for lunch and activities on Friday after spending a decade at the centre in Rochdale Road.

Since moving out of an office in Stubbylee Hall in 2004, the team has expanded to include 30 staff that contribute to services provided for hundreds of children and families across the OL13 area, which has 1,085 children in the catchment area.

Audrey Coulton, who has worked with the team for 11 years and is a family support manager at the centre, said: “It has been difficult over the years, as staff have come and gone.

“But now all our team are so passionate about the community, and we have many people who call us after using our nursery or receiving food parcels from us that thank us for what we’ve done for them.

“We are very lucky to have a large base and it’s allowed us to grow and thrive, building the relationships with the community up and extending our services.

“Now we offer young people’s services, a cafe, domestic visits, smoking cessation, and much more. We are proud of what we’ve achieved ”It would be great to get everyone from our past, who worked with us or used our service.”

There will be crafts, a bouncy castle, face painting, a cake stall raising cash for charity throughout the day, and a potato pie lunch, from 10am to 3pm at the centre. Admission is £5 and includes lunch.
