AN artwork in Burnley fashioned from spare jewellery has been nominated as one of the best of its kind by the promoters of a National Lottery award.

The Chandelier of Lost Earrings, which is hanging at Towneley Hall, could officially become the best in the UK if it attracts enough votes.

Lottery chiefs are urging townsfolk to support the creation, by Manchester artists Lauren Sagar and Sharon Campbell, which is made up of 3,500 donated single earrings. Hall visitors will also have the chance to meet the pair on Saturday, July 12, as the chandelier’s stint at the venue has been extended until July 17.

Coun Bea Foster, leisure and culture executive member, said: “I am pleased to hear that Towneley Hall is hosting an artwork which is going for national glory and was chosen from so many entries.”

Votes can be cast until July 23 by calling 0844 836 9672 or going to www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards/arts
