2:56pm Thursday 3rd July 2014 in News
A THUG who armed himself with a dagger and made death threats to police after officers were called to his home is behind bars for eight months.
Drunken Wallace Butler, 52, had had the blade concealed behind his back on the stairs.
He had spat at officers while he was being arrested, shouted expletives in the police van and told officers: “I will remember your faces and next time I see you I will kill you.”
Burnley Crown Court was told how police had gone to the property at 10.30pm as two others were in the house and Butler had wanted them out.
He was to claim the weapon was used to peel potatoes but a judge said that he was having none of it.
The defendant, who has 104 offences on his record including 15 to 20 for public disorder and violence, had admitted affray.
Butler, of Cliffe Street, Nelson, had been committed for sentence by magistrates.
