A NURSERY has turned an 'inadequate' inspection rating into 'good' in just a few months.

Bacup’s Blossoms Nursery was blasted by education watchdog Ofsted, who said staff ratios were not being met and workers had ‘insufficient knowledge’.

But after the nursery demanded a re-inspection, it has generated a 'good' rating which highlights some 'outstanding' features.

The latest report praised the team’s efforts for creating 'the highest standard of care and learning'.

The nursery however say nothing has changed and have lodged a complaint with Ofsted over a ‘flawed inspection’.

The new report praises the Vale Street nursery for strong relationships with parents and said teaching created good progress.

Inspector Sue Rae said: “Attentive staff play alongside the children offering gentle support and encouragement.

“Staff have a good knowledge and understanding of how young children learn.

“This means they plan a range of activities that help children to make good progress in their development.”

Ensuring the safety of children and providing good staffing ratios were also noted.

To reach an 'outstanding' rating staff were advised to provide more chances for older children to experiment with numbers. John Williams, director of the nursery said it was owed to his 'wonderful staff'.

He added: “We have always maintained an enviable reputation.

“And were completely stunned to receive an 'inadequate'.

“It came after receiving the Lancashire Quality Award two weeks before, and a 'good with outstanding features rating in July.

“We have in no way changed any aspect of our practice and still cannot comprehend the negativity on the report.

"We would like to thank our many advocates, including our wonderful parents.

“And also the invaluable support from our local MP Jake Berry."

Ofsted were unavailable for comment last night.
