PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed news that the Government has announced new statutory guidance for defibrillators in schools.
They have also established a scheme to allow schools to purchase defibrillators at a reduced price.
Mr Stephenson met with the North West Ambulance Service about the importance of defibrillators and regularly raises the subject with local head teachers when visiting schools across Pendle.
He said: “Having recently spent a day with a local ambulance crew responding to emergency calls I know just how vital defibrillators are to saving lives.
“Michael Gove and Lord Nash have given the gift of life to our schools by listening to the many organisations who have been campaigning for defibs.
“This has been a long campaign in Parliament and I have supported it locally, alongside the some of our schools and the ambulance service.”
