PEOPLE in Rossendale have been developing a better understanding of dementia, thanks to a series of events held in the borough.

East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CGG) has been working with the Alzheimer’s Society to host weekly Dementia Friends sessions at Bacup Health Centre, to help educate people about what it is like to live, and care for someone with, the condition.

Dr Tom Mackenzie, clinical lead for the Rossendale locality, said: “For many people living with dementia in our communities, getting out and about is a stressful and negative experience.

“These sessions help people better understand the perspective of those living with dementia and how we can all help make day to day life a more positive and comfortable experience for them.”
