ACHIEVEMENTS of A-level students at Haslingden High School have put the school among the top 100 comprehensives in the country.

In the latest national school league tables, the school is joint 90th in the country for students’ success at A levels.

Director of sixth form Simon Heaton said: “We are delighted the hard work of students and the dedication of staff has been recognised. The sixth form at Haslingden High School is a fantastic place to study and the outstanding results our students achieve allow them to progress to the university or career of their choice.”

Earlier this year David Laws wrote to head Mark Jackson when it was revealed that GCSE results had placed the school in the top 100 for the greatest sustained improvement. The Class of 2013 achieved the school’s best ever A-level results in terms of the percentage A-A* grades, percentage of A*-B grades and in terms of average grade per exam entered.

Mr Heaton said: “The year group’s results put them in the top 10 per cent nationally in terms of progress from GCSE performance.”
