BURNLEY MP Gordon Birtwistle has urged residents to sign an online petition that calls for two ‘top-class units’ at Burnley Hospital.
The Lib Dem MP said: “I said in 2010 that I wouldn’t give up the fight to improve hospital services in Burnley. Since then we’ve got an ambulance service back, improved out-of-hours GP services, and now, this fantastic new unit.
“But I don’t want things to stop there and that’s why I need your help.
“Firstly, an ophthalmologic – or eye - clinic which will allow specialist eye treatments.
“This £10million unit will also play a key role in the early identification of tumours as changes inside the eye can be an early indicator of such conditions.
“And secondly, a new £5million surgical unit which will provide improved facilities for patients across East Lancashire.”
