A HIGH school has been praised for its approach to religious education.
Ofsted inspectors said teachers at Haslingden High School encourages students to think critically about a wide range of ‘religious, ethical and philosophical questions’.
The inspectorate took a subject specific look at the school with the aim of sharing good practice. In a report inspectors said the school provided a ‘personally enriching’ experience of RE.
The report said: “Teachers pose increasingly complex questions, giving time for the students to digest and grapple with ideas.
“Emphasis is placed on ensuring that the higher order questions which underlie each topic are made clear.
“Students are encouraged throughout to work with a range of ideas and apply these to their own thinking.”
