Colne parents reminded of zig-zag zone

Lancashire Telegraph: Zig-zag lines at a school Zig-zag lines at a school

PARENTS dropping off children and picking them up at a Colne primary school are being reminded not to park on the zig-zag zone near the entrance.

In a newsletter to parents, a spokesman for Sacred Heart Primary School, in Red Lane, said an accident could be caused if drivers did not follow the rule. He said: “It has been noticed that parents are increasingly using the zig-zag marked area of the road to drop their children off at school.

“Please do not stop your car on these lines, they mean no parking at any time.

“Parking on this part of the road could lead to an accident.”

This is just another of those "minor laws" that are simply no longer enforced. Parking on zig-zags carries the potential for serious consequences and carries points and a fine as penalties - but when did anybody last hear someone complaining they got a ticket? - the police are stressed and underfunded but Lancs Council simply won't be truthful about the real state of affairs claiming that they are 'avoiding redundancies" - instead staff are overworked till they leave and are not replaced.
It's time we were made properly aware of how things have got instead of trying to retain the vote. Plenty of traffic wardens though........

The white zig zag in the picture is of those that are next to crossings. Schools have yellow ones.

Still, whatever colour, Caveman is correct in that they are no longer enforced. I drive past this school regularly especially in the morning, and its chaos. Cars are just abandoned anywhere just so long people don't have to walk too far to the school. The madness is it's their own children they're putting at risk and they'll be the first in the paper with a soppy sad face when something happens.
