CLARETS legend Arthur Bellamy will be laid to rest in Worsthorne on Friday.

The inside forward, who made 250 appearances for Burnley, will also be remembered in a minute’s applause before tonight’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion at Turf Moor.

His funeral will take place at St John the Evangelist Church in Gorple Road, Worsthorne, at 10.30am on Friday, with the cortège passing Turf Moor at 10am.

Mr Bellamy, who lived most recently in the Pike Hill area, passed away last Wednesday at Pendleside Hospice in Reedley, after a long illness, aged 71.

As well as scoring 29 goals as a player, Mr Bellamy also served as assistant manager, youth team coach and head groundsman at Turf Moor.

The flag at Turf Moor is at half-mast and will remain so until Mr Bellamy’s funeral.
