A RAMSBOTTOM pub has been named a finalist in the Business Innovation of the Year Award for the Budweiser Budvar Top 50 Gastro Pubs 2014.
The Eagle & Child in Whalley Road is one of three gastro pubs to have been shortlisted for the award, organised by pub industry magazine, The Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
The award recognises gastro pubs which have introduced a successful initiative over the past year. The pub’s innovation was its ‘raring to grow: Eagle & Child’s Incredible Edible Beer Garden’, created on an overgrown acre of waste ground adjacent to the pub.
It features a space for drinking and eating, kitchen gardens for food production and training, a space to play, an orchard and is also home to the pub’s own hens which lay eggs for use in its kitchen.
