POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to following an assault in the toilets of a pub in Haslingden on ‘Mad Friday’.

At 23:35 on 20th December, a 20-year-old man was waiting in the male toilets of The Green Squirrel Pub on Manchester Road when another man head-butted him in the face causing his head to split open.

PC Amy Tattersall from Burnley CID said: “The attack was totally unprovoked and left the victim requiring hospital treatment. If anybody has any information about this incident or recognises the man in the CCTV then I would urge them to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”

The offender is described as being around 28-years-old with short dark brown hair and a beard. He was wearing a bright coloured chequered shirt.

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Why are all images that have been obtained from CCTV cameras of such poor quality? Why bother to pay for the installation of a CCTV system that produces such low resolution footage. The changes of identifying anyone from such an image is almost none existent
