A 20-YEAR-OLD man appeared before Burnley magistrates, accused of threatening to cut his ex-partner's throat in a 25 hour siege in the town.
Luke Paul Entwistle, of Escott Gardens, is charged with making a threat to kill Emma Brown, to PC Simon Strickland and other officers of Lancashire Constabulary on December 30 at Burnley.
He also faces an allegation of affray between December 29 and January 1.
The defendant did not indicate pleas. The bench decided the case should be heard at Burnley Crown Court and Entwistle was remanded in custody until a hearing on January 20.
His solicitor did not make an application for bail.
The charges follow an incident during which a man, alleged to have been carrying a kitchen knife, held Ms Brown in a flat in Escott Gardens.
She emerged unharmed on New Year's Eve after police negotiatiors talked to her captor. Armed police, four ambulances, police dogs and a fire crew had surrounded the house through the night after police were called at about 4.30pm on Monday.
