CAMPAIGNERS hoping to restore the railway line between Colne and Skipton have announced their first members’ meeting of 2014.

Skipton East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership (SELRAP) will meet at Herriot’s Hotel in Broughton Road, Skipton, from 7pm on January 13.

Jane Wood, the group’s spokeswoman, said: “Present members of SELRAP are invited to this meeting, which is being held at a very convenient location opposite the railway station on Broughton Road.

“Prospective members are also welcome to come along.

“The members will have the opportunity to hear about this campaigning group’s response to a report by the engineering company Arup, who are working on SELRAP’s behalf on a feasibility study.

“There will also be information about SELRAP’s interest in the proposed A56 village bypass road as suggested by Lancashire County Council. It is also an opportunity for those attending to ask questions about the campaign.”

In September, the campaigners secured funding from several backers to carry out a second, more comprehensive analysis on the scheme’s feasibility.
