A WOMAN has been jailed for more than five years, after she was said to have lured a teenager back to a house, where she repeatedly knifed him as he was subjected to a planned, masked robbery.

Heroin addict Rose Robertson, 34, stabbed apprentice Alex Yates, 19, three times as her accomplice, who had been waiting at the property in Whitehall Street, Nelson, demanded cash from him.

Robertson had kissed him in the taxi on the way to the house from the Union Exchange pub in Colne where they had met shortly before.

Mr Yates believed they were going to carry on socialising but he was viciously attacked and handed over £10 to stop the violence so he could escape, Burnley Crown Court heard.

The defendant, of Pine Street, Nelson, who has clocked up almost 100 offences, had admitted robbery on August 24. She was jailed for five years, three months. She gave evidence, claiming she had been bullied into taking part by the man at the house, who she previously went out with, and who she refused to name.

Robertson, who was looking after the property, alleged she had forgot to lock the back door when she went out and he had gone in.

The defendant, who had had a cocktail of heroin, alcohol and prescribed medication before she struck, claimed she had intended to get 'even more drunk' at the house, she had not expected anybody to be there and the robbery was not planned.

But, sentencing, Judge Christopher Cornwall said he found it 'completely impossible' to accept her claim.

He told the defendant: “I am certain you and the man decided to commit this robbery in the kitchen, that you were a willing participant in it, that he put you under no pressure to commit the offence and you didn't have to wear a scarf.

“If a knife was put in your hand, you could have dropped it and you could not have used it, but you did.

“This was a planned robbery, where you took advantage of a 19-year-old, who could scarcely have been more vulnerable. He was treated in this abominable way by you and whoever it is you are covering up for.”
