THE Labour Party’s prospective candidate for Rossendale and Darwen, Will Straw, spent a morning volunteering at The Raft Foundation foodbank last week.
Mr Straw, son of Blackburn MP Jack, said: “Caroline Collins, the co-ordinator, is hoping to add toy and gift donations to the regular food packages so that those in need, and particularly families with young children, have some festive cheer.
“Caroline suggests items such as a jar of coffee, some nice toiletries or an activity voucher such as a family swim voucher or cinema voucher for a family.
“The Raft Foundation is also looking for help with deliveries the week before Christmas so do get in touch with the centre if you have any time.
“The foodbank is busier than ever as temperatures drop and we approach Christmas.”
Donations can be made to The Raft Foundation, Suite 31, 3rd Floor, Hardmans Business Centre, New Hall Hey, Rawtenstall on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 10am and noon.
