SHAVING expert Haroon Yousaf is hoping to prove himself to be a cut above the rest after making the finals in the search for Britain’s best barber.

His nomination comes as hundreds of men across East Lancashire trimmed their ‘taches off this weekend to mark the end of Movember.

Mr Yousaf, who works at Stylz Hairdressing in Manchester Road, Nelson will go head-to-head with 14 other barbers for the North West Best Wet Shaving Barber title in Manchester in March.

He said: “Being shortlisted for Britain's Best Shave is great news and makes me feel so proud.

“This is a brilliant opportunity for me to showcase my skills to the nation. I'm so excited and can't wait for the heats to start.”

The competition has been organised by male grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge and the British Barbers’ Association. Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry didn’t need Mr Yousaf’s services to get rid of his Movember effort, but he did raise almost £2,000 for charity in the process.

The Conservative said: “I’ve got around £1,400 pledged online and more than £400 in cash donations and it’s a fantastic cause so I’m really pleased to have raised so much.

“I was talking to a prostate cancer survivor in Rawtenstall yesterday and I know it’s a really important issue for families in East Lancashire.

“The moustache is not to be repeated I don’t think. It’s not for me.”

Across East Lancashire, hundreds of people took part in Movember to raise awareness of men’s cancers, including Hyndburn Council leader Miles Parkinson, staff at Aircelle in Burnley and Blackburn Ford.
