Ramsbottom waste plant decision to be delayed until November
3:24pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
A DECISION on whether a proposal to build an anaerobic digestion plant in Ramsbottom should be allowed to go ahead has been delayed until at least late November.
Campaigners against the construction of the waste site, and additional 1.5million cubic tonnes of landfill, at Fletcher Bank Quarry, in Shuttleworth, have welcomed the delay.
However, members of protest group Ramsbottom Against Waste Site (RAWS), have expressed concern that the separate application for additional landfill will proceed to a decision by the planning committee on Tuesday, October 15, at Bury Town Hall.
Coun Ian Bevan, who represents Ramsbottom, said: “This issue is of enormous importance to local residents. I do not know why the planners wish to split the applications as both are interlinked.
“Residents believe there are very significant reasons on planning grounds for this application for the additional 1.5million tonnes of landfill to be refused, and we will be putting that case to the planning committee at the meeting.”
People can register objections to the proposals via Bury Council’s website before Friday, November 22.
