Sabden parish council to be hauled into the '21st Century' with new website

A PARISH council is set to be ‘hauled into the 21st Century’ under plans to create a new website.
Sabden Parish Council is currently looking into setting up a site with the aim to get more people from the community involved in the council.
Councillors have taken inspiration from other parish councils’ websites such as Whalley and Simonstone and hope to get their site up and running before the end of the year.
They are investigating how much the scheme would cost and the findings will be reported to the council at the next parish meeting on November 5.
Sabden chairman Tony Haworth said: “Not everyone in the village is computer literate of course but young people might find it better to find out about what the parish council does through our own website.
“It’s an attempt to get more of the community involve with what we do.”
Coun John Shorter said: “Having our own website would haul us into the 21st Century which is much needed.
“It would be a community hub and a great place for people to come to learn more about what we do and to read the minutes of the meetings.
“I think that it would be a valuable addition to the community and we are hoping to get it up and running as soon as we can.”
Sabden resident Hannah Nixon said: “I think it’s a great idea because it will be easier to engage with the parish council if people have a website to go through. At the moment not many people know who the councillors are or what they do, let alone when the meetings are, so it will be a positive step.
“I hope that they are able to set it up soon and that people visit it a lot.”
