A SCHOOL is celebrating as 20 per cent more pupils are getting an A* to C pass in GCSE maths.
Blessed Trinity College in Burnley said its maths department was continuing to go from strength to strength.
The Catholic school can now brag a 69 per cent pass rate and is keen to go above 80 per cent in the next three years.
Headteacher Richard Varey said: “We made maths our number one priority, as it is an essential subject for our pupils.
Assistant headteacher in charge of maths, Rebecca Stevens, a Cambridge maths graduate, started at Blessed Trinity three years ago and has seen the maths department add 19 percentage points to its A*-C pass rate.
She said: “We have taken major steps and both the staff and pupils have worked incredibly hard.
“Across school we are thrilled to see so many pupils engaged and keen to learn in mathematics.”
